Community events
Community Services, led by Pres. elect Ken, has arrangements underway for our annual community Christmas event that will be held at Tawa College on Tuesday 9 December. Notices have been placed around Tawa inviting people to join us from 6.30pm at the College. We have a great line-up of entertaining local musicians, a sausage sizzle and of course Santa.
Toot4Tucker! – Wednesday 10 and Thursday 11 December – we will be travelling across Tawa collecting donations and non-perishable food items for Tawa Foodbank. Toot4Tucker, led by Tawa Rotary, works in partnership with Tawa Fire Service, Tawa Lions, the Salvation Army, New World and local community groups such as Scouts and Girl Guides. We don’t knock on doors – instead we create a lot of noise to attract attention with the fire truck sirens and lights as we walk along the streets and down the hills having been delivered at the top. The objective is to travel not too fast through the streets so potential donors have sufficient time to respond to the call and collect items from their pantries.
