Wine Appreciation Together

Last week we had a very enjoyable Wine Appreciation Evening with our Rotary neighbours - 70 Rotarians and friends. The wines were challenging – so many experts. Responsible hosts with the meal selection from New World Tawa that was first rate. Thanks to Andrew Watson and all those helping.

Public Image Award for Tawa

District Governor Deb Gimblett presented Tawa Rotary with a Public Image Award 2014 Rotary Public Image award 2014for outstanding promotion of Rotary in their community.

The citation was:  “The Rotary Club of Tawa has achieved articles in the local community newspaper about what Tawa Rotary has been doing. They wear the Rotary High Vis jackets to promote Rotary in the community. The Club has achieved a dedicated meeting to arrange awareness of public image within the club, and the club have achieved a joint project “toot for tucker” with the local Lions club. Rotary Tawa has an article printed in the Communities in Action book which again confirms their commitment to raising the public image of Rotary throughout NZ.

Your help needed - Red Shield Appeal

It’s only a few weeks until The Salvation Army’s annual Red Shield street appeal, which runs from Monday 28 April to Sunday 4 May, and they desperately need help with collectors. If Rotarians from Rotary Club of Tawa can assist this year, we'd love to hear from you.

Tribute to Fred Denz

We're saddened to learn of the recent death of Fred Denz, PHF from Rotary Club of Porirua Sundown.  He died suddenly while on holiday in Taupo on 30 March 2014.  We've been very privileged to knowFred and Glynis Denz Relay for Life Fred through his extensive years of service with Rotary such as the outstanding support he has provided to his lovely wife, Glynis while she was our Assistant Governor, and through the invaluable work he has done in the community, like the Relay for Life in Porirua.  With very best wishes to Glynis, your family and to our fellow Rotarians in Porirua Sundown.

A celebration of Fred’s life will be held at 11:00am on Monday 7 April at the Te Rauparaha Arena, Porirua. Rotarians attending will be asked to form part of a Guard of Honour and those with Paul Harris Fellow (PHF) are asked to wear their medals or at a minimum their PHF pins.The family has asked in lieu of flowers to provide donations to Rotary Foundation Polio Plus Programme.
