Craig Nicholson 22 Nov 2016On Tuesday 22 Nov 2016, we welcomed Craig Nicholson as our guest speaker. Craig is the Principal Project Manager of the massive Transmission Gully Project, having joined the design team at the commencement of the project in 2006. He was appointed the project head in 2009 and oversaw the transition to a Public Private Partnership (PPP) in 2012. The consortium will build the highway under contract to be completed by April 2020 and maintain the road for 25 years thereafter.

The 27 kilometre length of the highway will incorporate 27 bridges each designed to withstand 8.5 magnitude earthquake. Of interest to the local community, Craig described the total reformation of the Collins Avenue overbridge which will be raised 2.5m in height to be level with the existing SH1 motorway – by adding additional diversion lanes on each side of the bridge during construction.

Craig was thanked by Judith Gray who is a “neighbour” to the construction site office in Rangatira Road, Linden. Judith expressed gratitude for the thoughtfulness of the project team in keeping the locals informed and repairing the access to properties following last week’s earthquake.

It's a united venture to do something good for neighbours in need within our community. Please raise awareness about this significant annual project with your friends and family. Toot4Tucker started in 2011 and has continued to grow with donations of non-perishable food items that help to benefit people in our community. See more.
