Malcolm Sparrow - winning flag 6 Oct 15At the 6 October meeting, Andrew invited Rainbow Creative – a Tawa-based media shop – to visit Tawa Rotary. Its services include digital print, graphic design, product packaging, offset print, publication design and web development. Tawa Rotarians had fun creating their own flags.

Steve Lovell, Managing Director of Rainbow Creative gave an absolutely entertaining address to the club regarding the principles of good brand design practise.

Steve talked about the start up of Rainbow Creative 20 years ago, and how it has grown over the years by keeping pace with all the industry technological advances, through to their recent purchase of Porirua Print, which has now given them book-binding capability. He then presented us with a challenge – to design a new NZ flag. He reminded us to keep it simple, and to provide a story to go with each design.

And the winning table, who received a box of chocolates for their efforts, was Malcolm Sparrow’s with a red+blue + white fern design. This design does not represent any political views on the current NZ flag consultation.
