For many years the Rotary Club of Tawa has been running an annual book fair focused on raising funds by collecting and offering thousands of books, DVD's and CD's for sale. This year is no different to others, and it takes place at the Tawa New World Mall. Half of the profits go to support the North Wellington Life Education Trust. This is one of many Rotary projects to support our local community.
What's the Life Education Trust?
The Life Education Trust is a charitable trust that takes its mobile classrooms to some 200,000 pre-school, primary and intermediate children around the country each year. The North Wellington Branch serves our area and over 5000 local children each year see Harold the giraffe as they go through the various courses run by the Trust. The Trust is run by volunteers with no support from Government so, like any such organisation, they really appreciate the assistance given by the local Rotary Clubs. See more information on the Trust here.
Where does the rest of the money go?
The rest of the profits from the Book Fair and our other fundraising initiatives go to the Rotary Club of Tawa Charitable Trust, which makes the funds available to support local, national and international projects.
So how can you help?
- Donate your good quality books, CD's or DVD's, by dropping them into the box outside the venue in Tawa New World Mall.
- Come and buy books, CD's or DVD's on either Saturday or Sunday.
- Plenty of parking available and “Harold”, Life Education Trust’s Giraffe, is expected to visit during the weekends. The younger children love him!
