Working Bee for the Book Fair
Tuesday 2 June was the first of two Rotary meetings dedicated to preparing for the annual Tawa Rotary book fair.
The Book Fair is being held on 27/28 June and 4/5 July. Each weekend until the book fair, Ken’s team will need a group each Sunday 1pm to continue on with this activity. Additionally for those who wish to give some time during the working day/night please feel free to drop down. Thanks to Judith Havill who achieved a lot over several hours this week. The one change this year is that we are trying to sort the fictional books into alphabetical order by author.

Eat your way to better health
Rotarian Carol Green has been presenting to various Rotary clubs a fascinating overview of her scientific approach to healthy eating. Her presentation is called “Eat Your Way to Better Health”. It’s not promoting her business but more about nutrition facts that may surprise some of members. Carol is the District Chair of Rotary Leadership Institute 2012-2016.
Invite guests to this event – 23 June!

On 23 June, we have a "Special Night" to celebrate President Martin's last Club night before Changeover. Partners will be welcome to join us to hear:
Award winning Radio NZ broadcaster Hewitt Humphrey QSM JP will interview live the Chief Ombudsman, Dame Beverley Wakem DNZM CBE - a special setting is being arranged at the Bowling Club.
Similar to a "This is Your Life" programme, Hewitt will canvas Dame Beverley's extensive career in broadcasting, business and her current role as Chief Ombudsman. Additionally, Dame Beverley first became involved with Rotary as a Rotary Scholar, travelling to the USA and later joined Rotary as the first female member of the Rotary Club of Wellington and became the first female President of that Club. Both she and Hewitt are still current members.
So a "Real Rotary Night" and it would be great to see a large attendance.
The Great Zonta-Rotary Celebrity Debate
“That Pauatahanui Inlet should be filled in and turned into an international airport”.
This fundraising debate will be hosted by Plimmerton Rotary and Mana Zonta on Sunday 14 June at the Pop up Porirua Little Theatre from 3pm-5pm. Star celebrities are involved. The proceeds from this fundraising event will go towards the construction of an Information Board on Te Ara Piko – The Meandering Path – around the Inlet. For more details, visit the Plimmerton Rotary site.
District 9940 Changeover
